In my last post, I shared how I reached a turning point over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend—a moment when I realised that my life had become all work and no play. Determined to change that, I devised a plan to bring more joy, social connection, and fulfilment into my life. Now, it’s time to share what that plan was all about.
The Original Plan
After realising that I wasn’t spending any time on things that made me happy, I knew I needed to take action. My idea was simple: book activities into my diary that I would be committed to, especially if there was a financial investment involved. This way, I’d feel more obligated to follow through.
The first step of the plan was to sign up for a six-month subscription to weekly dinners organized by a company called Time Left. Every Wednesday evening, I’d meet five or six strangers at a restaurant in London for dinner. It seemed like a perfect opportunity to meet new people and expand my social circle, and the six-month subscription came with a significant discount, making it a win-win.
Next, I joined the West End Musical Theatre Choir. Singing is something that brings me a lot of joy, and I figured it would be a great way to meet positive, cheerful people who shared my love for music. The fact that they have drinks after every rehearsal also seemed like a great opportunity to build new friendships.
In addition to these social activities, I set a health goal. I wanted to lose a stone before a big shopping trip in May with a friend who acts as my stylist. The idea was to refresh my wardrobe with stylish, professional, and chic pieces that suited a more grown-up version of me. To achieve this, I planned to use my walking pad regularly and focus on healthy eating.
While dating was on my radar, it was a very loose and casual objective. A nice to have, but not essential piece of the puzzle. The priority was to enrich my life with activities that made me happy and fulfilled on my own terms.
What’s Next
This was the original plan—a blueprint for creating a more balanced and joyful life. In the coming posts, I’ll share how this plan unfolded, the experiences I had, and what I learned along the way. Spoiler: there were some hits and misses, but that’s all part of the journey.
I hope this gives you a sense of where I started and what I was aiming for. Building a meaningful life takes time, and while I’m not quite there yet, I’m excited to keep pushing forward and sharing the process with you.
Stay tuned for the next post, where I’ll dive into the adventures (and misadventures) that followed this plan. And if you’re on a similar journey, I’d love to hear your stories—feel free to share them in the comments or connect with me on TikTok.
